Christmas Tree Cancelled

Minutes from meeting held at the Maypole on Tuesday 23rd July.

We have received notification from the council that they can no longer afford any festive lighting in Calderdale. Therefore, our usual tree and decorations / lighting will not happen either this year, or in future years. This is the breakdown of costs that they have provided:

General Costs£86.59
Decoration of tree£613.81
Energy Costs£9.00
Inflation for above items5%
Supply and Installation of tree£1500
Total Cost£2244.87

They have left the door open for communities to pay for the service. The Community Association is not, on its own, able to contribute this sort of amount and specific fundraising / donations would be required if we were to have the festive decorations, which are an important part of the Warley calendar, this year.

Any suggestions as to how we might proceed would be very welcome. Please leave in comments or email us at warleyca.org.uk.

We have noted that leaving a comment gives a critical error message but the comments are definitely getting through to us for approval.

  1. Hi . This assumes We pay Calderdale to supply ,erect and remove a tree .
Is there any reason why we cannt do it all ourselves . There may be a problem with coupling to the council power supply .
But the cost of that shouldn’t be too restrictive .
